Hi all:

My name is Charley and I live in SE Portland (Creston-Kenilworth).  I was given a 2014 Hobie PA 12 last week as a gift, which quickly accelerated me from being a want-to-be kayak angler to being thrown into the deep end.  I took it out to Coffenbury Lake on Friday to give it a test run (hooked one stocked hatchery steelhead on a trolled wooly bugger but lost it).

I typically troll flies (I was using a pontoon boat) but I'm excited to have a boat that I can take out on the Willamette or the bays and troll for chinook or whatever else there might be and try my hand at some big boy fish.

I'm looking forward to figuring this thing out.

Welcome to the madness!  Hooking into a brooder is a pretty good first outing in my book, even if you lost it.   ;)

Thanks all.  My boss must love me very much (he bought me the boat).

I'm hoping to get out to Hagg Lake this weekend (probably Sunday).  Hopefully I'll get my first fish landed from the new boat.

Congrats on the PA. Great boat for fly fishing. I also troll a lot of flies behind my yaks. Also hope to be at Hagg on Sunday - and hope the water quality is decent. Last weekend on the Molalla was a great drift but no fish.
