I can't find the picture but I'm pretty sure Spot has put 4 kayaks on top of a Civic before.
I carry two kayaks and a surf board all the time on my Outback.

I'm still reluctant to put that much dynamic load on the beer can roof involving two 65lb 13' kayaks.  If we were talking about a suburban like you showed in your photo, I wouldn't be as concerned.  It's probably OK, but doesn't seem worth the risk.

To that point, I do now have 4 minor indentations on the roof of my Honda Accord from overloading the rack on a regular basis.  I don't mind the cosmetic "modification" but I have had to tighten my towers and re-space my bars to compensate.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
