Well, lost what would have been the biggest kayak salmon for me today..IN THE NET! Beautiful hatchery springer right there...and gone! It was inside the hoop, I went to choke up on the handle so I could lift it,dipped the net slightly....all hell broke loose hit the boat, broke the leader...aaaaaahhhh
There, I feel better...wait..no I dont..
In review, I know I rushed it...but it was right there!
Had 1 other really good takedown...down twice, third time pole bounced off my arm, couldnt get it out of the holder...didnt stick.
PB'er next to me caught a beauty...(he said 20 lbs..?)
Anyway, lower Willy seems to be fishing pretty good...
It was just the the other day I was telling Jfek how I hadnt botched a kayak net job yet. :P.

Great story.  How were the crowds today?  Supposed to rain tomorrow.  I guess a Dry suit is good for that too!

Only a couple in sight until 10 or so....hook a fish and voila!..instant crowd,lol....not bad, though. The guy that caught the big one admitted he caught a glimpse of my flasher, switched and hooked up shortly after.(chartreuse/chrome,custom red stripes)

Good enough for me.  Just put the herring in for a bath!  Thanks for sharing.

That sucks about losing a salmon that close to the kayak.  You'll never forget about the great memories though. Last fall I caught my first ever kayak salmon. I got so excited when I got it close in I set a brand new net on my leg as I was fighting the fish and tried horsing it in. I broke my line losing a flasher , jet diver, superbait and my brand new net and  the salmon.  I didn't realize I dropped my net in the heat of the battle.  It sunk.  You'll catch more!

Been there, done that.  So far I've lost two nets (my first year).  I also hate to admit I;ve lost a nice halibut which came back to life AFTER it was on deck and I thought stowed.  Not good.
