Finally got a date for when i am moving to seattle lol...july 14th so if anyone knows of any rental properties near south of seattle let me know lol...I am trying to save up for a kayak when i get there but i don't know how much this move is gonna cut into that...hopefully i can find what kinda kayak i want in six months or so then use about another couple months to be able to paddle more than 5 minutes without dieing...but in the mean time i am just gonna do some shore fishing...anybody got any suggestions on what the best chest waders are for kayaking/wade fishing.  I figure that will be the route i take as far as dry gear...the waders bottom and some sorta mostly waterproof top lol... i don't know how much dry tops alone are i haven't looked into that much yet.

Y.N.,

You're on the right track for gearing up.  If you can get some of the personal gear situated, you can many MANY times borrow another guys yak.  Sounds crazy, but for at least right now that's where our sport is.  I'm not gonna mention any names but my own (I have a P-15, a Malibu-X, and a Cobra F-n-D.  Each of which I loan nearly every time that I go out myself) but a lot of guys on this site have multiple yaks that they are more than willing to lend once or twice apiece while you're working on entry to the game.  I'd suggest that you concentrate on the big gatherings where it's quite normal for a prospective costomer to borrow a demo from a rep and put it through a few paces.  It's quite acceptable... that's one of the big things that they do.

Myself, nope, I'm not a rep.  I just like to take an angler out there that might not get a turn otherwise.  A handfull of the other guys on here are indeed reps of different kayak companies and believe me when I tell you that they like that same idea.  My suggestion to you would be to watch one of the get togethers that's going down (maybe 4 or more?)  and then just ask in an open kind of way so as not to put any indiviual on the spot.  As for the waders, I think Hodgeman sells a pair that's called breathable but I doubt it.  But at about $75, they are pretty comfortable to me.  Something like a thin canvas feel, only truly water proof.

Maybe I'm talkin' out my "bobo" on the loaner issue, but I think we're still a really small commumity and I think that's still the kind of stuff we're into so far.  Stick a personal message out there or add your simple request to a thread... see what happens.  Take Polepole for instance.  I'm pretty sure that for him all you'd have to do would be to show a little gratitude at the end of the day and maybe hand over certainly no more than 80% of your catch!

See ya ON the water, best of luck to you,

If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.

What the heck is talking out your bobo?  You've been in Okie too long my friend.

Any time I go fishing, if anyone wants to borrow a yak for the day and join me, you're more than welcome and you don't need to hand over anything, let along your catch.  My fleet is up to A Prowler 15, a Trident, a Big Game, and a Scupper Pro TW.

Y.N.,

Okay, I hope you could tell that I was just joking around about the 80% thing.  But there you have it...  What did I tell you?  So once you get into town and get situated, then get yourself out on the water with these guys and get in some kayak time with some of the best.
