Downrigger mounting perfected!

I think anyway. Dry testin in the snowy driveway is giving the impression this will be a sturdy, easy to access mount/location for the down rigger. It's not super quick release but not that big of a deal either. It might be a hindrance during launch but if that's the case it can be relatively easy to put on in the water

Does your fishing line go into the area which is enclosed by the side of your Adventure Island, the outrigger, and the supports for the outrigger?  Is playing a fish difficult when your line runs down into that box?

The downrigger line and weight go into that "box" but the clip to the weight extends beyond the brace so I'm able to keep my fishing line out of there

Here's my version for a deck mounted Scotty downrigger, on an AI.  Made two sstl u-bolts into hooks that grab the aka's, and bolted on the Scotty base and a rod holder.  Only down side is not being able to colapse the ama assembly.  Very solid - handles 8# balls easily.

That looks like an exceptionally robust and clean installation of a removable downrigger that is accessible to the cockpit.  NICE work on the layout!  Thanks for sharing.

that's the way I did it last year. It worked good. And I like that style of downrigger better than the lake troll on my new mount. But I use a tramp on the other side, and having that mount on the other hindered me getting in and out of the seat in surf.
