Oru Kayak (video)

These 2 architecture students have come up with an ingenious idea. The origami kayak. Light, portable, fast, sturdy, and sleek looking, this thing is legit.
They're about the price of a Hobie from what I've seen from their website but this is the perfect boat to use for hiking into a mountain lake.

I really dig the idea, but not the price point. An initial concern (regardless of $$) is longevity. Rigid plastics can be folded repeatedly in the same place, or on the same seam many times before cracks begin, but I can't imagine it doing it enough times to be worth the investment. Also, from a back packing/overnight trip, it appears light, but its bulky and you still need all of your other gear to get to the lake for the night/week. Not trying to be a buzz kill. Just some immediate thoughts and its still really cool.
