Walt from Wasilla, Alaska. I've been fishing the local lakes in my pontoon boat and 10' sit inside kayak for a couple of years and have been thinking about trying some bigger waters in a SOT. When I first moved up here 15 years ago I started with a 24' cabin cruiser, then moved to a 16' center console then to a 12' jon boat, now I'm down to a kayak. For ease of use and cost and just plain outdoors experience, its hard to beat a kayak. Looking forward to learning from the members on his forum, especially Alaskan kayak anglers.

  Welcome to NWKA bumppo.

Spend some time cruising through the different threads here. There is a lot of shared knowledge.

Come late august early September you could take your sink down to Swanson River. It is really calm and there are a bunch of silvers in there.... just sayin
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Hi Bumppo -- welcome! I hope you can come to the Whiskey Gulch Yak Classic on 6/28-29. Even if you're not equipped for Cook Inlet yet, it's a good opportunity to see some different setups and meet some other kayak anglers in Southcentral -- a small but enthusiastic community.

Thanks for the welcome. Akfishergal, I'm going to try to make it down on the 29th, have previous commitments on the 28th. Look forward to seeing the setups you guys use to fish the inlet. I've watched Rudy's videos and they are truly awe inspiring! Also thanks for the tip on Swanson river, I will definitely check it out.

Hey Hey Bumppo!  Glad to see another Alaskan on the board!  Lot's of great stuff here!  After a great Mother's day outing, weather and just plain bad luck has afflicted me the past month!  lol.  But as in all sports, I'm hoping this cycle turns around and peaks on June 28 & 29. Haha.

I'm hoping to hit that area every free day I have between now and then!!  Glad you've had a chance to check out a few of my videos.  All the other folks on here have every bit the crazy stories! You'll just need to hit them up in person!

Stop on by and chat if you can that weekend.  It's all informal so come down early Sunday and fish half a day!  All it takes is a line in the water!  I'm sure you could take my outback for a spin if you were interested afterwards.

Welcome!!!
