Hi, I bought my first Kayak this spring and after using it a bit  and have figured out this is the way to go. I have fished in Alaska for over 50 years. I have floated the Gulkana and the Kenai  and others in the 60's up to the 90s. Power boated the Prince William sound, Homer and Seward in a large Uniflite and this Kayaking lately has me charged up about fishing again. I was in Seward just before the 4th and spent the 4th and 5th floating Willow creek in a large raft and my pescador angler 12. I figured out that I need a pedal driven yak at 61 I'm not dead but my arms could use some help propelling. It appears that the Hobes are the most popular and that is most likely what I will end up with but the bicycle drive looking yak might be a good fit because of all the bike riding I have done. Any advice. I hope to see some of you folks on the water soon.

Welcome Rod. I'm 58 and all I can say is "baby steps". I've effed up my body from labor and injuries but this is a great way to enjoy fishing. Use this forum for advice and search the old threads for information. You came to the right place.

Welcome!!! Another alaskan!! Sweet!!  You've found the right place for all the good kayak info!
I use a hobie. Not quite bicycle style motion.  I hear the propel series is.

You are going to love it! Haven't started either of my powerboats in years!! Hope to see you on the water soon!
