I actually fish at Richmond Beach, I was just curious if other people in the larger area had the same experience.

Last summer there were always a bunch of recreational pots but I always managed to get at least a couple keepers.  I was out there for 2 hours Saturday and checked both pots twice and only had undersized.

Boat or kayak?

I kayak.

Most of the pots are from boaters except once in a while I would see another kayaker dropping pots.

i've actually been doing pretty well in elliot bay nearshore (25-45ft) lately. Dropped some pots early this am, will check this afternoon and report back.

I'm up here just North of where you are in the Mukilteo area.  Went out two days last week and got 4 keepers and two Red Rock Crab on both trips with just an hour of soak time.  I had a bunch of undersized crabs too.  Not too shabby for one pot.  I fished in about 50-60'.  Hope this helps.  Happy hunting!!

Dropped some on the opener south of Alki and only got one keeper. It's definitely slower than last year. I may need to move around and look for new spots.

Intrigued by the idea of diving. I saw some videos of spear fishing for ling/rock out by Neah bay. Looks like a fantastic experience.

I am down in Tacoma and have been doing really well. I just went out this morning before work to check my pot and re-bait and I pulled up three keeper Dungies, two of which were absolute pigs. Yesterday I pulled up a dozen crabs...Two were keepers and the rest were molting...Only one female and I have yet to see a red rock crab. I am crabbing at the mouth of the Foss Waterway.

pulled out some nice #s and sized crabs yesterday with the girlfriend in elliot bay. left the pots out overnight and....nada. not a single crab. there are definitely crab thieves out there. each time i've left the pots for 5hrs or more - there's nothing, but when i let em soak in the same exact spots, and hangout nearby for 30mi-1hr, it's always packed full of em. i know they don't leak. it's pretty damn frustrating. thinking of padlocking the traps' entrances, but that might just be asking for theft of the whole trap.

After a second attempt, it seems my go to spot is no good this year.  Going to have to do some exploring next time.

I did manage to pull my last pot right through a jellyfish with a big enough bell to cover the entire top of my Danielson trap.    >:(  What a nasty gooey mess.  I managed to shake most of it off but had to spend 5 minutes picking all the tentacles off.  Glad I remembered my gloves that day.

As a side note; saw tons of bait balls on the ff, but nothing that made me think salmon.

My fingers start getting cold around 3 hours. Typically have a selective limit of both crab flavors by that point. Just enjoying all the sea life and shooting at perch. Unbelievable how much life is in south sound eel grass beds!! I'll strap the GoPro on one day.
I would like to start diving for clams and crabs too.  It would be great if someone posted a video.
