I much rather prefer paddling upstream from cook park (towards Jurgens or 99) rather than downstream.  It can get really nasty downstream just a little ways by that sewer treatment plant, and I've heard they had some sort of spill within the past couple weeks...  There is just as much downed trees and spots to fish upriver than downriver if not more.  I just got back from fishing it this morning, no luck this time, I think I'll go out again this evening.
