Just a reminder to all Seattle area fishermen/women, Elliott Bay opens to Salmon fishing for kings on the July 4th holiday.

Unfortunately, I will be out of town that weekend, but was hoping that someone in our community would represent.  Fishing and Hunting News was looking for a kayak fisherman in the Elliott Bay king fishery last year--could be some fame or notoriety for the kayak community involved.

I'll be trying my hand at bass fishing over on the dry side of the mountains, but look forward to doing some Puget Sound salmon fishing really soon.

Does the license I bought for Drano cover me for Elliot Bay or would I need a saltwater license for that?

I was just wondering the same thing.

You'll need a saltwater or single day license.

I'm excited about this. It's definitely a fun time, but also a tough fishery. It isn't really good until later in July/August.

I'm looking forward to learning even more than last year, and am thinking about getting a guide for a day or two at the beginning of the season to learn more. I especially want to learn how to mooch...

Maybe some of us can hit the water together. I work downtown, so am planning on starting and/or ending many Mondays and Fridays chasing the kings.

Here's the prize from last year, 26.5 lbs of chrome!

Nice fish Matt!  We will have to try to hook up at some point for this fishery.

I went out Monday evening... no luck. But a nice night and few fisherman.

Creel reports looked pretty dismal. Saturday, 1 chinook for 62 fisherman!!
