WG report - Sun 8/3

I know I should most likely make a new post but... Are the tides too goofy this coming weekend to try to fish? Also since I went horribly wrong last time, do you head north past the beach on the rising tide and let the falling tide bring you back to the beach or what. I had an adventure a couple of weeks ago but got back.

Tides are fine. Weather not so much but that can change. It's a matter of adjusting direction to either extend or shorten your trip. The two key factors are
1) the tide doesn't switch till an hour or so after book high tide.

2) wind will counteract the currents. So either plan for it or bring along a drift sock or a bucket in a rope.

If unsure, just make an effort to stay close to the launch. Launch only 2 hours or less before book high or low tide. As you get more comfortable, you can extend out.

I'd offer don't just drift. With hands free propulsion, move around. Cross and up current. Get the scent distributed. Be safe!  You'll get the hang of it after the first few fish...just gotta survive the first encounters!!

Kardinal-84, thanks for the advice. I will watch the weather and head down if the weather breaks. I will catch a haibut and keep it in the boat this time or at least that's what I'm telling my wife.
