So my wife is of backpacking this weekend. It's going to be a weekend of me, fishies, kayak, and a tent. The options are endless!

Anybody has any good suggestions?

John Day arm, no way.  Not this time of year, it was 104 in the dalles  yesterday!  Id recommend either going up very very high (but generally those drive to lakes are going to be crowded) or going to the beach.  Best chance at good weather. I just fished all day in the sound yesterday with my son out of our yaks, and it was fantastic.  Ive been up there several times now.  Generally catch around 70 fish a day, with 10-15 of those being nice keeper sized fish, if you're interested in bringing any home.  Weather was a little hot, think mid 80s, which is acually a little higher than nomal.

Tillamook bay has small rocks the lakes have stock trout and sea run cutthroat trout in the rivers. Old Mill RV park or the county jetty park. If you come this way hit me up if I can't go out with ya I can send ya in the right direction.

Codeman's right.  It might be a little too toasty for the JD this weekend.

Here are my suggestions:

1.) Summer steelhead on the Columbia. You can anchor in 12-18' of water and run plug/spin-glos & coon shrimp or just plunk from shore. Bankies are outfishing boats right now.

2.) Swift Reservoir trout - Plenty of big trout to catch and pretty simple kayak fishery.

Saturday the ocean might be an option depending on your abilities and conditions.  I hooked a salmon in Nehalem Bay last week, so there is that option.  I'd head west, but if you want trout or steelhead there are many good freshwater options as stated above.

Alas, live interferes and it looks like I'm going to be busy this weekend.. I also noticed my coaming is separating from the deck, so I'll probably spend what free time I have  with sandpaper in one hand and a beer in the other :)
