Sorry jschloff - I had Pacific City stuck in my head when you asked about a drysuit, not Nehalem Bay. The potential hazard level is less in NB, and what to wear is less clear-cut.

Myself, I would probably use my immersion gear (I'm a wader & semi-drytop guy) with swim shorts and poly T shirt under. My top is GoreTex and breathes pretty well, so I don't get too overheated on the water, especially if there is any wind. The waders are breathable too. I like being waterproof so spray and splashes don't bother me, and should I end up swimming, I'll be dry.

I was out there today (Nehalem Bay) - didn't feel the need for the full dry suit.  I went with the dry pants; waders would have worked perfectly.

If you choose to try Nehalem Bay, there are fish being caught - Chinook now, and I believe they start seeing Coho later in the fall season.  See suggestions by Rawkfish and Threecreeks, they know what they're talking about!

Do watch the the wind forecast - got pretty strong moving into the afternoon today.

Oh ya, beautiful day out there!

Many thanks for all the tips. I made it to Nehalem as well. Had a great day but the fishin was slow. Didn't see anyone get one. It gave me the time to get oriented with my new boat. Things you dont think about until your on the water. I learned alot and cant wait to get out again!
