I can understand the validity of use on small bass boats, but a PVC stakeout pole, or ski pole does the same thing without the added installation, weight, bulk and cost.  I'm not seeing this hitting the top ten list of "have to have".

If you were in the bayou or fishing the flats in the Keys you would probably love it.

In Texas in June I found the stake-out pole through scupper terribly annoying. It works fine but it's constantly in your way, or else you have to put it in one of the rear scuppers which takes time, and you have to turn around, so you usually bonk something and make noise, etc.

I think these are kind of silly too, but I didn't like staking out through the scupper.

I've seen folks stake out through a ring on their anchor line, and actually I've done it at Sand Lake myself targeting flounder.
It also was quiet and gave some shock absorber action if there was any wind ripples.

I just don't see this taking off big time for the kayak crowd, even in the south eastern states shallow flat fisheries.

We'll see?   :-\

That thing won iCast Best of Show in 2013, so it looks like the media thinks highly of it.

No way, this is an awesome innovation for serious flats fisherman (i.e.not us).  CR is right, the stake-out pole is problematic.  A while ago I was looking into rigging the lightest boat power pole to the PA for florida fishing, but it's way too heavy.

It's in a big tuna and doesn't look to be bogging the boat down that much but the tuna has a large capacity.

It will certainly be interesting to see how well it does in the coming year or so.

If it takes off, and isn't really any issue on the intended waterways, cool beans.   8)

I've actually gotten to put my hands on one, and if I was fishing flats down south I'd consider one.
