Apologize if this has been discussed again, couldn't find any info using the search function
Has anyone used or has experience wit  the Kokatat paddling suit that has the canvas reinforcements?  Wondering if it's worth the extra cash, and if the canvas will prolong the life of the suit. I'm ready to buy either a drysuit, or the paddling suit, could use a little experience from and advice from the more experienced.
Thanks
John

I don't have any personal experience with it, but I can tell you I did a crap ton of research on all kinds of dry suits.

Consensus from NWKA, NCKA, and the web in general is... get the Kokatat Angler suit.

I just ordered one yesterday.

It's worth it.  All of their dry suits are made in Northern California.  They stand behind their products with great customer service and even can do repairs.  Get it and you will ask yourself how you lived without one.  In addition to keeping you dry and warm, they protect you for that chance you might go in.  That's when it really pays for itself. ;)

worth it.  the reinforced area takes away any concern about tearing the suit while dealing with fishing stuff...

Not questioning whether a drysuit or paddling suit is worth it, or whether kokatat is worth buying, is the canvas reinforcement worth the extra cost, or is that what you are referring too?

You definitely want the reinforced panels if you're fishing in it.  Kokatat also has EXCELLENT customer support.

What Brad said. They are a great group of people who make great gear in the USA for kayak fishermen, and stand behind their product. I have been using their drysuits since '07 and no worries through 4 suits.

4 suits in 8 years take it easy on your gear man...... Or you fish way too much.

For context, Z is an OG Kokatat pro staffer.  Just 'cause he's had 4 doesn't mean that he's burned thru 4.  He's merely  a gear whore.

Seriously though, Kokatat likes their pro staffers to wear the latest and greatest.  I still have my original Kokatat suit and use it as a loaner for friends, family and associates.  That suit has seen some serious hours and abuse and still has a lot of life in it.

You just always have to be spot on don't ya?....... If I ever decide to try a full dry suit I know who to borrow one from for a day........ Although I will most likely sweat like hell....... I may still try one and get out of the wetsuit.

Just sent mine in for servicing.  Feet were rather damp last time out.  Much more than I learned to expect from previous uses.  Hope they turn it around in the 2 weeks so I get it back in time for lings in March.

I was able to get a pretty good deal on a used kayak,  ::), so I was able to get the angler suit also.
