Humboldt Squid in the Bering Sea?  Anyone want to call BULLSH!T on that??  If it's true, new target species for Alaska!!!!

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2014/10/14/submarine-faces-jumbo-squid-attack/?intcmp=features#

excerpt..
"It is like a scene from an old wife’s tale about the giant, tentacled kraken dragging shipping vessels to their doom — two Humboldt squid, flashing an angry red, attack a Dual Deep Worker submersible containing two Greenpeace USA divers on an expedition in the Bering Sea"

Well, stuff from Faux News usually is BS...  And Greenpeace doubly so.   However, it does look like Humboldt squid have been documented in Alaskan waters in recent years and expanding their range, so it's feasible they have hit the Bering Sea now.  http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/gcb.12502/abstract, http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/humboldt-squid-expansion/, http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/accounts/Dosidicus_gigas/, and others...

Personally, I think the squids' choice of prey was a good one.  Go Squids!  >:D

I agree with the squids choice as well!  I frankly don't care if Greenpeace makes stuff up or not.  There has been limited sighting in the southern Alaska oceans.  But the Bering Sea would be a significant move North and West.  All I care about is "HOW THE HECK DO I GET ONE AT THE END OF MY LINE!!!!!"  Haha...

They are definately weird when you do get them on the line. They were thick here  off Vancouver Island a few years ago. Our bait was coming up with these strange triangular chunks out of them and then when the squid did get hooked they just pull and act differrently than any salmon species we were used to. I never did get one right into the boat as they always seemed to get off  at the side of the boat.
