Hello members, I am Jim and new to NWKA. Just purchased a kayak and I am outfitting it for fishing. Plan on doing alot of salt water fishing and crabbing in the Puget Sound and the coast. Hope to pick up tips and meet others fishing near me. I am in Olympia.
Thanks,
Jim

Welcome! Lots of fishing opportunities in the area, what kind of kayak did you get?

I try to get out at least once a week. This time of year I end up duck hunting from the yaks as much if not more than fishing, but hit me up sometime if you want to get out.

Folks that chime in this time of year carry a bit more weight. Great time to come aboard and do your due diligence. Glad to have you amigo.

Welcome to the forum I am a newbie to kayaking also.  Just purchased the Jackson kraken kayak.  I am looking forward to meeting new folks here to show me the gear ropes along with some safety tips.

I purchased a Pelican Apex 130. Not a dedicated fishing kayak but gives me 13', 35" width and the ability to get the wife or one of the girls out with me. I have purchase yakattack rails and a zooka tube and have a Lowrance x86 to put on it. I just cracked a rib about a week and half ago and probably will not get out till next week. I think this boat will hold me over till next year when I plan on getting either a Hobie outback or rev. Interested in fishing the Neah Bay area, Lapush, the Puget Sound and anywhere else I can drive. Love Kokanee fishing and anything saltwater. Wintertime has a host of things to do. Crabbing, squidfishing, blackmout fishing. You name it.

Glad to e-meet you!

You probably made a smarter choice in kayaks than I.  The Boss recently landed her first salmon - fishing from the bank, or I'd be talking about it more - and decided we must get a tandem kayak for fishing, so I can control the boat while she catches fish...

Welcome.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.
