So I am getting a little bit crazy here.  No snow in the mts. so my skis are patiently waiting.  Winter steel has been difficult at best.  I am planning for springers already.  I was able to do ok this fall at the mouth of the lewis by launching form austin point.  I'd like to get into those same fish, but be upstream from shipping traffic.  I am thinking upstream of the 205 bridge up to the mouth of the camas slough.  That would keep me in the fish headed for the Sandy and points east.  Anyone know of a good place to launch within about 2 miles from fish there?  I know there is a ramp in Cams, but that might be a mighty paddle back upstream.  Thoughts?

I will probably spend most of my time at Austin point....but sometimes those container ships and a shelf on the bottom make for a "focusing" experience.  I watched 4 footers break when they hit the mouth itself.  :o  sandpiper...you know what I am talking about.

If you are trying to avoid container ships why not just fish right around the I-5 bridge. You can avoid all the commercial traffic (minus barges which you would deal with anyway upstream) by fishing the area immediately upstream and downstream of the I-5 bridge. You can beach launch from park immediately east of the Joe's Crab Shack. https://goo.gl/maps/x7ztP

I know of many springers caught in this area every year plus if you get bored you can run up and grab a beer at McMennamin's.
