Hey guys my name is Chris, just thought I'd stop by and introduce myself.   I've been fishing ever since I can remember, I've been in the Air Force for the past 14 years and have had the opportunity to travel and fish the world.  I've got into kayak fishing about 6 years ago when I lived in Hawaii and now that I'm back in Alaska for good now I'm trying to get back in the community. Currently I have an 15ft Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro rigged with 2 rear flush mounts, 2 rear Ram Tubes, 1 scotty rod holder between the legs, a Eagle Cuda 350 fishfinder/chartplotter, and a 55lb thrust motor kit from BassYaks, the girlfriend has a 12ft Dolphin with 2 forward rod holders, outriggers, fishfinder, and rudder kit.  It seems like there is a lot of good info on this forum and I'd like to learn more from you guys.  Currently I have a Facebook page "Alaska Kayak Anglers" and am working on a website as well "AlaskaKayakAnglers.com to help share some fishing knowledge and spread the word on kayak fishing in Alaska.  I'll probably ask for input and would like to set up some more kayak fishing oriented tournaments in the futute.  Look forward to seeing you guys on the water...

Welcome Chris!  Like the facebook page you set up.  We certainly could use a few more folks spreading the word!  Looks like you and your GF are set up and ready to go!

We have a few folsk eyeballing up the Witner King Derby in Homer on March 21.  The next "planned" get together will be May 30 & 31 for our annual NWKA derby at Whiskey Gulch.

Look forward to seeing ya on the water and the new kayak postings on your website!

Unfortunately I have drill on the weekend of the Homer Derby or I would be there for sure, last year we got skunked on kings but landed a 165lb halibut.

As for Whiskey Gulch, I'll be there for sure.

I'm gonna stop by the Sportsmans show and I'll introduce myself.

Hi Chris and welcome. My drill got moved to this weekend which freed up the Homer derby for me. Might be worth split training for  ;).

I like your setup and Facebook page. Like you I started kayak fishing while stationed in Hawaii-Johnston Atoll actually but I didn't own my gear there. Last year I finally treated myself and got a Hobie Mirage 14', Lowrance HDS7 with structure scan (more of a fascination with what cool things are on the ocean floor than a fish finding investment), and a few gadgets and attachments to the yak that I am still tweaking to get the setup I like. I love my AVET reel but I have to find a better rod for trolling.

If you're in the ANC area, PM me and maybe we can hit the water sometime.

For sure, I live in Eagle River and will be hitting the peninsula pretty hard this year.
