Hey gang, I just got a pirhanamax 165 for Christmas.  I know that Humminbird will exchange the transducer, however, I see an exchange price of $75.00 on their website...so.  The transducer that came with the fish finder will fit into the scupper recess, however, there is  a little plastic ridge coming of the mounting bracket that is really in the way.  I am thinking I can trim trim that little piece off and it will fit fine.  I don't see this effecting the function of the transducer itself at all.

Thoughts?

I think it will work but it would stick down and create drag?

Sticks down maybe 1/4 inch.  I could just install thru-hull...

If installing as thru hull, try using plumbers or electrical putty to attach the transducer.  Easy to use, works great, and if you want to change it later, comes right off with no muss or fuss.

So is there duct seal between the hull and the transducer or is it there to hold the transducer to the hull?  Seems like in the posts where guys used lexel or goop there was a small amount of sealent between the hull and the transducer.

For my set up, I use the duct seal as a mold.  Form an oval doughnut with the duct seal approximately the same shape as the transducer. Stick this to your hull. Place transducer inside the hole with the transducer  directly touching the hull. Put alittle water inside the hole and gently form the duct seal to the transducer to secure it.  I went out the 1st and forgot to put the water in and it still seemed to read well.  I think there is a thread on this site with some videos.

built an awesome scupper hole mount....wont work with the humminbird transducer Maybe a different brand?   anyway, mounting thru-hull, right under my left cheek, nice flat spot.  Thankks guys.

Edit....its done.  I could not justify cutting into the transducer.  It is now in a pool of marine goop inside a foam puck.  Cut a small hole in the puck where it meets the hull to let the air out.  I have to wait a bit to see how it works unfortunately.
