Finally joining NWKA after many years as a lookie-loo.  I have fly fished since I was 12 years old, and have decided to take the plunge (figuratively speaking) and buy a fishing yak for lake and Puget Sound fishing. I tend to be a "minimalist" fisherman so I will be looking for a good sturdy ( I'm 6'4", 200 lbs) kayak for cartop carry.  I will be checking the "For Sale" forum now that I am official and unlocked.  Any yak suggestions for you old pros will be appreciated.

Welcome aboard! The Native mentioned or the Hobie Pro Anglers are solid pedal driven fly boats. Look at the Old Town Predator 12 & 13 as well. They might fit your minimalist idea a little better. Most Jackson Kayak models are solid fly fishing platforms too. Something with the elevated "camp chair" style seating will certainly fit the bill. Especially when throwing those long double haul casts. Most boats with that style seating promote standing as well. You can still fly cast from a more traditional seat too, and boats like the Ocean Kayak PT13 can be found used at a fair price pretty regularly. Good luck on your hunt! Use the search function here. I'm sure it'll answer a lot of questions for you!
