My 13 yo son and I just purchased a Hobie Odyssey and I am currently in the process of outfitting it.  The plan is to just do some lake trolling for trout and kokanee to get ourselves some practice but the eventual goal is to be fishing for ling cod, salmon, and halibut but  that won't be until next year.  I have probably done over 200 hrs of research on outfitting and safety measures but it is still slightly stressful drilling holes into a plastic kayak.

We are both excited and nervous but given the ability to do our favorite charter fishing for ling cod, halibut and salmon (tuna too but we will still charter that) from our kayak  and when we want to makes me smile.

This site has been invaluable and also the ability to meet and talk to PolyAngler made the decision making for outfitting a little less stressful.  I look forward to meeting more kayak anglers and sharing our adventures as we become better kayak anglers.

Cheers!
TJ

Welcome to fun times.  My son is 12 and I have the pro angler and planning to get the tandem islander so we can both fish and sail out in the sound.  Hope to see you out in the sound.  You should try salmon fishing in the sound this odd year cause lots of pinks that are easy and fun to catch/smoke.  I caught 24 in 2013 and the quickest was just 30 feet from shore and within 15 minutes.

I look forward to seeing pics all rigged and fishing! You two should definitely get your fill of salmon this year! Hard to go wrong with pinks!

Well guys I did it - went to the Seattle Boat Show and ordered the Hobie Tandem Island.  Just have to decide what color (grey, yellow, or red).  I just have to make room for The TI and may have to sell my 2 yrs. old PA14.  Bellevue Dealer says he can put it up for sale at his store when I receive the TI at no cost since this is my second purchase from him.  He says he can sell it easily for $2,500. I am wondering if the kayak fishing Derby allows TI or will I have to keep my PA?  If fish derby allow TI - anyone interested in my PA here at NWKA before it goes for sale at the dealers to anyone?

That's awesome! The new islands are sexy! Hoppa would fish tourneys in a tandem island. Just typically can't use the sail. Has to be man power from launch to landing.

You might try selling on Craigslist locally and post a link to the ad on this site under "Classified" section.
