I did a quick search for the HX850S and didn't find many available and the ones I found were more expensive then the newer model HX851.

From what I read, you couldn't set waypoints in the 850, but you can with the new model (851)

Yep, only difference that I found.  Although I'll probably use a fish finder for that.  From what I read the way point settings on the radio aren't that user friendly anyways.

I already have the fish Finder for this yak, I'll probably look into a combo unit for the next one! [emoji2]

Damn, that's cheap. If you really only need the radio for your salt trip I'd be willing to lend you one. You could pick up in Portland on the way out to the Coast. However, it's great piece of mind to have one.

Hey Noah that's really nice of you to offer!

I'm hoping to eventually be able to have many trips out that way, so I'd like to
have o radio of my own.
If I'm not able to afford the radio by then I just might take you up on your offer.  ;D

I'm hoping to take a trip out to Depoe Bay with my wife and some friends this spring just for fun, but also hoping to maybe meet up with a couple of you guys and get a better idea of what to expect in July.

Sounds good. Shoot me a PM as the trip gets closer.
