Always been kinda bummed by lack of access on Merwin and Swift. ...you have to drive to the east end of the lakes and are limited to that general area. Both lakes can get hot by the dams.
Not only is the parking worse at Speelyai, but they did some creative log work on the beach, forcing you to use the ramp...wish I would have bought that Campers Hideaway spot when it was cheap in the 80's.

I wrote a letter to PacificCorp asking if they would be willing to install a 4-5' wide gravel kayak/canoe launch on the south side of the boat ramp. They seemed very amenable to the suggestion and I am waiting to hear confirmation back from them on their decision and timeline.

That is awesome, Tyler!  Used to be able to beach launch there last year when the ramp was busy. While you're at it, have em build one at the dam! ;D I kid, thanks for all your effort!

A quick update. It appears approval for a dedicated kayak launch at Speelyai has made it through and into the planning process. No word on an implementation timeline but everything is looking very promising.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Nice work, Tyler. ...I'd be happy if they just moved the logs back outta the way, but a path would be nice .Thanks.
