(The report is micro, not the trip.)

Conditions were as advertised Sunday at PC, which is to say pretty darn good. The only downside was the current was ripping pretty good towards the south (1-2 kts), and so holding your spot took a little extra work.

We limited on rockfish and lingcod and released many more rockfish. The sizes ranged from 14 inches to 21+ inches. Additionally I released a nice ~8lb cabezon. We saw porpoises and whales, and had a whale surface about 100ft. from the kayak. Only one sea lion today and he wasn't interested in us. We were in a rush to leave so I don't have any back-on-the-beach pictures.

The 2015 Oasis sailed like a dream, love the new seats!

Great success Capt'n & way to get the lady out on a calm sunny voyage! I'm interested in hearing how the surf launch & return went in the tandem, as i imagine it takes some finessing. These shots look like a Hobie advertisement.

Thanks Hugh! Yeah we fish a lot together; it's not too often I'm out without her, especially on the ocean.

We haven't had any issues punching through the surf on the tandem(s), but we choose our days pretty selectively. I actually think the weight helps... we pretty much keep the bow straight into the wave and just punch through as fast as possible in-between sets. Same thing when we had a paddle tandem. Landing we haven't had too many issues so far; a partial huli I think is the only trouble we've had (we jumped off too early and a wave caught the kayak and got it up on its side). One nice thing about a tandem is that from the rear cockpit you have a lot of rudder control by digging your paddle in to keep the back straight.

The best advice I've ever got for launching and landing in the surf: tie it down, expect to flip, and relax and enjoy the ride.
