I have mine in the round hatch right in front of me.  I have my phone in the box also and I want to be able to reach it for pictures and for access to my music that I stream to a waterproof Bluetooth speaker.  I dont have it attached to anything yet but with all of the foam below deck it isn't gonna go far...
Wait... what?!, a waterproof Bluetooth speaker?  I want to see how that's attached.  Sounds like an awesome idea.

It's waterproof and floats.  It has the tether and carabiner or you can unscrew the tether and it will mount to a go pro mount.  I can change tracks, adjust the volume, play and pause, and answer calls too.  It is rechargeable. Surprisingly it sounds pretty good for its size too.  Best of all, it was only $28 at Costco.

I wish I had pics to show, but I use a 12v battery,  and I put it under the seat inside the yak. I then cut out a frame to fit around the battery, a couple clips, a bungee and epoxy the frame in. 4 flat trailer plugs work well for me because of the extra terminals. I haven't had much luck with the little battery box idea I usually been seeing, the batteries don't last half a day.

Oh I use plastic board for building the frame for battery. Pretty much a rectangle with a rectangle hole to fit the battery, or whatever shape the battery is anyway.  Yuasa yb5a,  yb7a, batteries are small and sealed. Same battery that a child's 50 or 90 cc atv's have.

I'm trying to envision an Italian police officer on a kayak.

A quick search reveals that these speakers are everywhere and cheap.  I guess All this focus on fishing forums has made me a bit out of touch with technology.
