First video of my rigging series is complete! Installed a pair of Scotty flush mount receivers in the new Revo 16. There will be a handful more to follow as I have time to edit. Need to pick up a mic too... Hope you enjoy and maybe learn something  ;)

Nice installation video and backing plate......but, the location of the rods are really far forward......I know we all have our "rod holder location likes", but for me, that is a real stretch to quickly reach the rod.

Thanks DSC! The video was really for the install how to vs. placement. My placement definitely isn't for everyone. Far less of a stretch than it looks though. They're easy to reach from side saddle or straddling with my butt on the center hatch. There's no way I could reach them from the seat! Fished the last two seasons off an Adventure I rigged the same way and love it!

Awesome video. Where did you get the plastic baseplate material?

I've this instead, comes with screws and nuts.  Super easy to install, space dependent.

I wasn't aware of the existence of this Scotty backing plate.  It looks like it could be useful in some situations.  But a question: is the backing plate rigid, or does it have some flex?  The hull of my kayaks is curved in most of the places where I've mounted things, so instead of making a rigid backer out of a rectangle of plastic, I've used stainless steel fender washers to spread the stress out to the area around the bolt hole.  Sometimes I've had to bend one or more of the fender washers to fit the inside of the hull.

Nice! Those are cheap and convenient! Yakattack makes a backing plate exactly like that for their mighty mounts. I've been using one on my Visicarbon for the last 2 years. I get 6-9 out of most cuttingboards for a whopping $2 plus hardware. The piece in the vid was leftover from two prior rigs.

Its rigid.  The screws and bolts included are SS so its a great deal.  I've put one when I installed a Scotty Lake Troller DR on the side pocket on my Revo 13.  Jump to 2:40 mins on the video.

I ordered these, thinking they'd be awesome.  They are awesome, except that several of the screws were poorly manufactured and stripped out.  Put some new nuts and bolts together and got it working, but it was a huge PITA as one of the bolts got stuck and I had to saw it off.

I had the same experience as lee.  It looks like they ship with screws that are are too large in diameter than the bolts in the backing plate.  I downsized the screws and they tightened down perfectly.  Except for the PITA it took to figure out what was going on, it seems to be pretty strong.

Good information about the screws.  I used my own screws I got from Home Depot because the ones included were too long.  All 4 went in and tightened perfectly in one try.
