No fishing but a fun paddle

With the crappy ocean forecast I decided to head out to Diablo Lake this past weekend.  Weather was crummy up there too (rained the whole time and got windy to a while too), but I went ahead and paddled around anyway.  Purposely left the fishing gear behind as this was more of a scouting trip with limited time available.

I got over 30 minutes on the GoPro, but have so far only reduced the following clip to something postable to YouTube.

If the ocean is blown out again this weekend (and the forecast is not looking promising right now) I'll probably head back to Diablo but with fishing gear this time.  Maybe even do the portage up to Ross Lake and camp out for a night up there. 

Couple of retired guys and I rent cabans and PB at Ross Lk Resort.  Big rainbow trout in the lake.  Planning to portage my TI from Diablo to Ross and camp with my 13 yr old or go through Canada and launch at Hoseman.  US Biologist are worried cause the Canadians use live bait (shiners) and have dumped them into Ross.

Shiners breed fast and only grow to one to two inches which Rainbows have learned to eat and got big. It sounds great for now, but the worry is that the shiners are competing with the small Ranbow minnows for food.  Best trout fishing when the weather is cooperating. It sometimes gets really windy in the afternoon.
