I bailed out of work an hour early and hit the Hawthorne spot Thursday afternoon and met up with bsteves once I splashed off the dock.  He had been on the water for about 45 min and said there wasn't anything going on.  We then started heading down from the dock towards the bridge and right before I got under the bridge I felt a weight on my line.  At first I thought it was a snag because there wasn't any feeling of a take-down, then I realized where I was and that I didn't have enough line out to be hung up on anything in this particular area.  I began to lift up against the weight I felt and I felt a couple of throbs on the end of my line - FISH ON!!  I started reeling frantically to ensure I had enough tension on the line and settled in for a good fight, and a good fight it was!  After she made a couple of runs I took her for a nice long walk.  A little while after my arms started burning she started showing me her belly and I guided her right into the net.  She went 18.5 lbs on the scale and 37" on the tape.
Aside from another boat that caught a fish when I was getting mine there was nothing else happening for the rest of the evening except awesome weather.

I'm guessing that's the photo posing spot? If it weren't for the blue sky in your picture I'd have to ask if mark passed his fish off for photos or took a pic of him with yours , same background exept the weather and slightly different angle. Now I know your secret spot but don't worry I won't tell.

There is a paddlecraft dock right there making it a nice place for those that actually catch fish to cruise up to and bleed, tag their fish and get a photo taken.

I'm trying my darnedest to have that same background behind my first ever springer.

I'm in the same boat Craig---- gotta catch one 1st.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

That is a chunky looking springer! Congrats and thanks for helping inspire me to get back after it. I love downtown springer photos! Get some more and keep posting.
