Yeah, that's a great unit, but perhaps you could be a bit more specific about what you want to know. The CHIRP just came out so there's not going to be a lot of empirical info on those yet. So far, so good.

I was considering one and just looking to the experts for their opinion if this would be a good unit to mount on my Outback.  Also considering using a 12V 7AH Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) Battery and if I did how long could I run the unit before I need to charge it up?

That is an incredibly awesome unit to mount on your Outback and I'm sure you will like it very much. I have one on my Revo, and you have more real estate on an Outback than I do. I do miss my 5 inch display I had on my Bumminbird and wishing I would have saved a few more pennies for the Elite-5 though, but not a deal breaker. I cant help you on your 7AH battery question as I am using a 36AH LiFeP04. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you may only get a couple hours tops, and definitely not a full day.

Just ordered one to put on my outback. So for it looks nice (I've ran all the wiring and installed the transducer). Bought the fam mount for it, so still need to install the geartrac and pick up a battery. I really liked my base map elite 4. So I'm hoping for a lot more out of this unit.

I have a 7Ah battery and have been on the water for 10 hours straight with my Elite-4 HDI, not sure if the CHIRP draws more power?  The Elite-4 HDI draws .75 amps.

Morning,

Just brought one and it was only $199.50 on the back of a magazine called Overton's marine and the shipping was free.Used it for the first time yesterday on my kayak and the picture was crisp and clear and bright even in the sunshine. I forgot to bring my manual so did not get to use it much since l didn't really know how to use it . Although it was my first time trying out my new Hobie 12 Pa for the first time and loved it.Took me 3 weeks to get the boat ready for fishing and still need a crate for the back to haul more gear and a drink holder,lol.. Will post more when l get out again and give you some more feedback on this fish finder.,
Tight lines,
