Tillamook Bay May Day: after party & and after math

8:00 pm and 23 on the registration so far there's a lot of plastic in the park. 5am I will be around the docks and or the club house. In a brute orange coat with reflective stripes. Please keep the early am volume down for the non fishing campers. We have a lot more prizes materializing as of 9 pm 23 registered up plus  $230 in raffle sales and $160 in shirt donations so far.

My dear spousal unit and I have spent a fun couple of days here in Cannon Beach doing the tourist thing ( and lovin' it!).  We're heading down Tillamook way tomorrow, so on our way thru Garibaldi we'll keep an eye out for a park full of "Tupperware Expedition Support Vehicles" and assorted hangers-on running the show...  If things allow we might be able to stop and say howdy!  Just watch for the guy in cervical collar not allowed to carry anyhing more then his camera...

Pony keg will be here in about 5 minutes and no we're NOT tapping it till tomorrow afternoon. For those early am arrivals I will be there but most likely sleep walking.

First off I want to thank my wife Pam for putting up with all the time it took me away and all the help she did from behind the lines making sure I followed up on things ( I have memory issues from an accident) as well as giving me support and her opinion on things out of her field of recreation.
Second thanks to ALL OF YOU THAT CAME. You guys keep thanking me but without you guys we couldn't have put together this good of a time and for those who didn't make it you missed a great big feast. And thanks for all the food that was brought. NEXT TIME take some home I'm going to need to paddle a week in the current here to loose all the weight I'm going to gain from the left overs.

The best part of all we are donating $1235.00 to HOW PDX.
No salmon taken but rick fish and crabs were ok.

I'm done for tonight and will post up the official results tomorrow. After I get some pain relief and sleep.
35 competitors and 34 on the water. 

I'm sorry we couldn't stay for the feed. But had family down. Sound like everyone had a great time.

Salmon first place goes to ...everyone  tied for first place at 0.0 lbs.

All fish
 First place......smilingkayaker 7.94 lbs
 Second place..smokeyangler   7.74 lbs
 Third  place....Fugative           7.34 lbs

Crabs
  First place.....Minnowmagnet..7.90 lbs
  Second place..samm..............3.20 lbs
  Third place.....wobbler............3.16 lbs

Minnowmagnet and Smokeyangler were the only two competitors that would have taken two places had that been allowed.
Wobbler was the only competitor that almost didn't weigh his winning catch of crabs they were in line to get cooked.

 The Trophy Case Gearheart Oregon donated nine plaques for our winners unfortunately we were not able to use the salmon plaques. I'm going to donate them back to him for promotional purposes.
It was a $245 donation and he had emergency surgery before he was done he came in after his surgery to finish the last  three plaques he totally surprised me, no indication he was even going to do those for us when I got the phone call that he had the surgery and needed to finish the other ones.

 I wanted to say a special thank you to some last minute  sponsors the Kayak Shed as well as Next Adventure both brought out a bunch of stuff So we made sure  everybody that fish got some prizes that  wouldn't of been possible without those guys jumping on board also Ninkasi  brewing last minute sponsor they donated a pony keg.  I just wish you guys would've finished it, but all in all it was great I'll get a complete sponsors list up ASAP.

Going to be some tweaks for next year but most of all I need some volunteers to help out so if your interested let me know it will be May but most likely later in the month because as most of you found out here it's all about the tide.

Okay okay okay one more for now then I will shut up (if that's even possible) next year's day is getting set as I type
2016 Second Annual Tillamook Bay May Day
Saturday May 21 (mark them calendars) I will hit the sponsors drive at least 6 months out if anyone wants to throw some sponsors idea my way. We are using the noyaks page for promoting next year's event so please please please get your pictures up. He can link your published videos if you will allow him too. 

Thank you Mojo to and crew. Yesterday's tournament was awesome. The support NWKA shows to the Heroes On the Water program is vital to keeping us going. We appreciate everyone coming out and helping to raise an astounding amount of funds for HOW!

Ok here is my special thank you to the guys that fed the hungry masses the grill owner/operators Jimmy Fowler and his nephew Dan Grigsby as well as our own firefly51 Rick and don't forget Dannybay's wife Julie Bevins.
