In the folding crab ring discussion, I mentioned the small Danielson crab traps I found at Sportsmans Warehouse in Clackamas.  I picked up two of them (I think they were around $25 bucks) because they seemed much easier to manage in a kayak than the full size square ones.  These are about 2/3 the size of the square pots, in roughly the shape of a dog house or a barn, with 2 doors instead of four.

Here are some photos:

so, theses are one they craw in and can't get back out or do they fold up when you lift 'em? I can't find them online and i haven't ever seen them in any local stores here. No sportsman warehouse or joes here.
See ya on the water..

They're traps- fold them when you're not using them.

BTW, adding some weights to the doors can keep more crabs in the traps, especially in surge or currents.

What he said... they fold flat by unlocking these little clips along one edge, and undoing the bungees that make the triangular end pieces rigid with the overall structure.  When the clips are locked and the bungees are wrapped to make the ends rigid, they are pretty solid.

Any suggestions on adding weight to the doors?  I'm loath to spend the $4-5 bucks each for the weighted Danielson doors.

Weights? Try rubber core trolling weights. Pull the rubber cores out, spread (if necessary) and crimp on lower wire of door. Or wrap pencil lead around wire of door.

I used 2 one ounce weights on each door.
