As many of you NWKA guys already know, me and some NCKA buddies put on an annual fundraising paddle/raffle called Pay It Forward (PIF) to help raise $ for members of the NCKA family battling cancer/serious illness...

Over the years PIF has grown and expanded, we have been the recipient of raffles at Gimme Shelter and FreshKats etc, and we have been fortunate enough to have had PolePole let the registration fees from AOTY/DOTY (after prize plaques have been purchased) go to PIF as well.

Here is a breakdown of how much $ has been generated via PIF efforts over the years and where the $ has gone:

2010: $6,000+ given to Mooch
2011: $9,000+ given to Mooch/Shicken
2012: $8,000+ given to Mooch/Shicken
2013: $10,000+ given to Mooch
2014: $15,300+ given to Porky's daughter Hailey
2015: $1,120 given to PAL, $10,360 given to Rob102's Dad Jack Forney (battling colon cancer), $5,819 still in PayPal (recipient TBD)

At this years event we had a great turnout, flat calm seas, some fishies caught, lot of shenanigans and laughs shared on the water, ton of great food back at beach, amazing donated prizes given away, and a BUNCH of $$ raised for a very worthy cause!!

When the dust settled we had raised $5,960 via PayPal, and $4,400 in cash and checks.

Cash and checks were given to Rob102 for his Dad, and I gave him a check for the PayPal $ as well.

Total $ raised for Rob's Dad Jack was $10,360.

Our most profitable one day PIF event so far!!!!!!!

Attached is a letter written by Rob102's Dad and Mom...really brings home to me how special PIF is....proud to be able to play a part in making it a reality.

Here is a little vid I made of the day as well:

Anyway, if any of you NWKA guys can ever make it down for a PIF paddle I think you would really enjoy it!!

 :)

Sincerely,

Jim

Thanks folks!

My buddies and I (affectionately known as the A-Hulls) are the primary organizers but it is really the whole NCKA community and the generosity of individuals and stores and companies etc that have made PIF so successful.

We are VERY informal which has its pros and cons...but has been working so far....

We are still raffling off a brand new Hobie Revo16 this year, and here are details for anyone interested:

Also, here is a thread that describes how we choose who to give PIF $ to, and how to "nominate" someone as a potential recipient:

If anybody wants to talk offline about anything PIF related you can always shoot me a PM as well.

 :)

Sincerely,

Jim
