These days, it seems like a waterproof camera is at the very top of "B" list items required for kayak angling. "A" List being Kayak, safety gear, rod & reel.

I destroyed my Iphone 5 and am upgrading.  I am four days away from the Iphone 6S launch but am stressing due to the lack of a decent functional phone.

So unless someone here can convince me that I am an idiot in the next few hours, I am going to make the switch.

I understand its going to cost me an arm and a leg to replace apps.  I am pretty tech savvy so don't really fear the Android based OS though I do love the simplicity of the IOS environment.

So anyone wanna talk me out of it???

I was a long time iPhone user before, and never really got satisfied with Android.  The waterproof feature of the Active isn't all it seems to be, as the phone is all but useless with water drops on the screen.

Want to try the Galaxy S4 Active if I switch to the new iPhone when it comes out?  I'm on ATT.  I can send it to you.

I recently bought the Galaxy S6 Active, and actually was impressed with the screen and how you can use it with water on it.  I just smear the water away with my wet palm, and its fully usable without issues.  I think they've improved it since the S4 active.

Fair enough.  Thanks for the offer but I need something NOW like today.  I'm a long time Iphone guy and I  could wait in line for the Iphone 6S on Friday but one of my life rules is "I don't wait in line for anything I can absolutely avoid."  The other thing I should mention is I hate cases.  I don't know why.  But my phones all end up in ziplock bags without cases.

Drawn to the longer battery life and better camera for the S6 active...plus the waterproof ability.

Thanks Martin.  Any added functionailty under moisture is a huge plus.  I hate the fact I only wear polypro.  Cotton is good for one thing...wiping lenses and glass.

should say something I suppose.  I am hoping that new active window might help.  But its an issue I think with most phones so any improvement is good..

Getting a new phone now days is like a crack addiction for some. Gotta have all the latest features, etc. But at least post S4 they offers some level of "water resistance" case. Prior to that you needed to purchase a GOOD aftermarket waterproof case (which I am personally happy with- love it, actually). I will play devils advocate here and ask those that have the newer "Water Resistant" cases if they have seen any issues with corrosion being an issue? Have they turned out as "waterproof" as you would expect/need for salt water exposure?

Me personally, I appreciate the all aspect protection of a good waterproof/shockproof/dustproof case. I don't find it a hindrance in any sort of manner (touch sensitivity, (water droplets) sound, bulkiness, etc.). Even if I had a newer "water resistant" phone today, I would protect it with a good waterproof case.
Better to keep ones mouth shut and presumed a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

I've had an Ipone 3 & 4. Just replaced my S5 active for the S6 and would not go back to an IPhone unless I had to. The S5 lasted 15 months wich is good for me. I agree with the water on the screen being a pain with the S5 but have not experienced water on the S6. I will throw it in the water and report back.  Try that with an I phone! Since I'm here I've been wanting to find the best tech to be compatible with the Lawrence Chirp4 for map download and editing. I've been a Mac user but need to upgrade. Any thought out there?
