I'm writing to put in a plug for the Sunday Afternoons "Oregon Cloudburst" rain hat.  It's a pretty good rain hat. Yesterday I fished for many hours in a continuous driving rain, and the hat kept my head dry and comfortable.  It breathes very well, the brim is big enough to keep rain off my glasses, and the cape is big enough to keep rain off my neck.  And the price (typically $48) is pretty reasonable; the Kokatat Nor'Wester rain hat, which also looks like a good hat, is typically $89.  For cold and windy weather, I have a thin pile hat with ear flaps which I wear underneath the rain hat.

I got a palm leaf that I use when I'm chasing cows but I only have a plastic hat cover.not the best on a kayak.I should look at one.

On a side note did you get any meat on the boat for your rainy effort?

The lake trout weren't biting, although several followed my lure for extended periods of time, so I switched gear and caught a couple of kokanee.

Fishing in the rain was way better than staying home and watching golf on TV.

Golf is not a very fast paced sport... It should be crossed with skeet shooting now that would be worth watching as the ball explodes in mid flight.

I can always see my downrigger weight on my fish finder, which is essential so I don't run it into the bottom, and so I can position it at the depth of suspended fish.  I can also see some kinds of lures on my fish finder, and fish following the lures, if they are deep enough to be inside the cone of my sonar.  For example, if my lure is 30 feet behind my weight, and the weight is blown back somewhat, the lure will typically become visible when my weight is about 70 feet deep.
