So I took my dad out this past Monday, and arrived to find perfect conditions and beautiful weather. We put the two Hobies (an Outback, and a Sport) in the water as soon as we could, and peddled out to about 70 ft.

Not soon afterward, and my dad hooked into a chicken, that was worth keeping. About half an hour later, he hooked into a MONSTER!  He was huffing and puffing, aND I could hear the lamiglas rod strain under the weight of whatever was on the line. About 5 minutes later, we see his catch....a nice big brick/rock.  I have never seen him laugh so much.  He ended up catching another nice 37", and I got two small ones.

It was a great day. When my mom saw the photos, she said he looked happier than on their wedding day....my dad's response: "I guess I was" :-)

I'll add some pictures, if I can figure out how to upload them from my phone

Very Cool.

I once helpep my friends son pull in a monster off of Halibut Cove.  Took forever, felt heavy as all hell, but turned out to be a rather large old tire fully encrusted with anemones and other growths.

Makes for a great story.

Your Dad's reminds me of charlie brown going out trick-or-treating... " I got a rock"
