And the reporter referred to the fisherman's boat as a "single pontoon kayak," whatever that is.

A lesson which can be deduced from this article is that if you are fishing an unfamiliar river, when you drop off a vehicle at the take-out, go down to the river and look for landmarks, so you'll recognize the area of the takeout as you approach it.  In this case the takeout was a campground, which should have been pretty obvious.
