Not on the shore anymore!

Hiya, I just found these forums thanks to I-fish.... I think that's where I found the link.  Anyway, I'm up on Whidbey island in the puget sound working for the summer, and I just picked up my first kayak!  There's no way I'm staying on the shore anymore, not with all the salmon running around here. 

I'm in the process of teaching myself how to fish again.  I fished as a kid, but there is a generational gap of outdoors folk in my family and I'm having to learn how to target different species on my own, that's why forums like this are a blessing.  I always liked the idea of kayak fishing but could never afford it, until I was cruising the interwebs for fishing kayaks and came across a deal I couldn't pass up.  Big 5 had the lifetime tamarack angler on sale for $250 and after looking up a few dozen reviews I went ahead and ordered one.  Seems like a decent beginners yak, and it allows me to get into the sport without investing too much up front.  If I get addicted I'll just have to upgrade, but until then this will do.

Saving, what's that?  I blew a paycheck on this kayak and the next goes into a paddle, pdf, and wetsuit 

Ah yes, but when you come around other kayakers and see all their cool toys, you'll want something different.  "New and improved" will also take your money.  We started with a pelican sit-on  and sit-in kayak.  Then had to get Hobies (2011 Outback-2012 Revo 11 models) then the new Hobies came out with the upgraded turbo fins and Vantage seats.
And if you ask my dear hubby, dannybay, he'll tell you that you need Fish Finder, pole holders, about a dozen and a half different fishing poles and reels and a spare bedroom converted to a small fishing store with so much "stuff" in it.
