I had a little free time Tuesday so I went out to Bowman Bay to see if I could find some pinks. I got there just at slack tide and I spoke with a guy at the ramp who had been fishing north beach and said he they saw a lot if bait, but no fish. When I got on the water I saw a lot of bait, but not a lot of arches on the depth finder. Most if the arches were around 20' down so I set my downrigger there and started trolling a pink and white spoon with a hootchie on the hook. Just off Northwest Island my rod tip started bouncing. After a few seconds I pop the line off the downrigger and bring in a 20" humpy.

I didn't see any other arches on the depth finder for the rest of the day, but since we were on a incoming tide I didn't expect a lot.

Still it was my first pink, and the first fish from a kayak!

I am thinking of hitting up West Beach next week on the out going tides. Has anyone played around Coronet Bay or Yokeko Point on the incoming tides? Is it too close to Deception Pass to making it back to Coronet Bay if I have to work against the tide?

It's impossible to tell from the picture, but be careful taking pictures of a bled and bonked fish.  They come back to life at the most inopportune times!
