Not much to report. I took the day off and went to the beach with the family on Wednesday.  Surf forecast called for 1-2 ft so I convinced my wife to let me take the tandem so Owen could try bottom fishing (I had been promising him all year).

Well, I forgot that just because I took the day off that didn't mean the traffic was going to be like a Saturday morning and it took almost three hours to get to Pacific City from my house in Portland.

With little time to actually fish and a son who seemed more interested in collecting different kinds of kelp, I opted to take my daughter out for a paddle to haystack rock and back.  I did manage to drop a jig down for about 2 minutes and caught a buffalo sculpin.   After that one fish we quickly headed back in to the beach.

And that's why we launch at 6am beats the traffic and more time to get the jig wet. Nice job getting the daughter out there she looks like she's enjoying her father daughter time. On top of all that you can honestly say you didn't get skunked.

I normally launch early to go fishing as well, but not everyone in my family is keen on getting up so early.

Keen, willing, dragged out - whatever works.   >:D

That is what they invented air horns for.  Just stand in the garage and keep popping the horn until everyone is standing at the doorway wondering what the hell is going on.  Then say, "since everyone is awake lets hit the beach".   :toothy9:

Around here it wouldn't be the *beach* getting hit...
