The past 2 weeks have been filled with adventures - a trip to the coast and several outings in the sound.

Ventured out on the salt for some bottom fishing and to get more experience launching in the surf. The forecast and conditions were around 2-4, 3-5 ft so nothing too crazy for a newbie like me. Got on the beach late on the first day and had a little bit of sun left so with help from one of the folks camping nearby we got my dry suit zipped up. Bought a used one with a zipper on the back and they are very hard to zip up on your own. With all the gear tucked away for a surf launch a nice couple on the beach took some pictures. I met so many nice people on this trip including two kayak anglers from the forum who were camping right next to me so a lot of stories and fun at the campfire were shared. They made my second launch and trip to the water more successful with some of the fishing tips they gave me. A lot of first on this outing; cabezon, China rockfish, black rockfish, kelp greenling, and lingcod. Fell on the water while trying to pee kneeling down through the relief zipper. My eyes got so big I just remember hopping back and sliding my butt on the kayak in a hurry. It was also very peaceful that a whale expelling air all of a sudden can be very startling or a seal popping it's head nearby. This was a memorable trip. Thank you to Gordon, Rodger, John and Elizabeth who shared tips, stories, and pictures. And to Dino who recommended the forum in which I have met so many nice people on here and have learned from since joining.

After getting back from the coast, I went on several trips to Puget sound one in Whidbey island taking a friend from Arizona to fish for pink salmon. We had good success as they were flooding the area. A week later I went south and took another buddy who I met for the first time from the forum. He just moved to Seattle from the east coast. So glad for the way things have turned out and getting these folks to bring home some fish was both a relief and a good feeling.

Going to try again in the coming days as all these pinks pass through the area and will hopefully make some trips in the Klickitiat and Oregon rivers later this fall for some kings. Lots of choices so little time ;)

Here's a cheap way to pee safely and comfortably while you're in your kayak.  All parts are available for about $5.00 at any hardware store.  Run the hose down a scupper drain hole or Mirage Drive well.

Sounds like you had a great trip! (Except for falling in the water with your pee zipper open).

And as I get older, I think more and more about peeing, and I pee more and more frequently.  But I don't want to hijack Wind in His Hair's posting about some pretty fun kayak fishing trips.

We should have a "pee management" thread if there isn't one already.

All geometry considered wouldn't that be lowjacking the thread....... Sorry to hit below the belt but I couldn't help it.
