One of those days

Hit Winchester Bay Thursday for some salmon action caught a few jacks in Half Moon Bay before the wind came up and then switch over and started to fish the East Basin marina. Caught 4 jacks right off the bat, boy was this already a great day and not even 10 am yet. Talk to a few people along the bank and they seen a couple roll but nothing on the bank let alone anybody hooking anything. Fast forward 6hrs. 2 nooks in the yak (12lb and a 14lb) and 17 strikes and a mess of jacks later. The first photo is what the fly look like new off the tying bench and  the second picture is not for the faint of heart, it is of pure carnage of what nooks can do to a fly after a day long of fishing.

Catching a chinook on a fly would be so fun!  Nicely done.  That fly definitely had a hard day.

What type/weight setup are you using?  Do you strip that fly in or troll it? 

Using a 9/10 wt. rod with a slow sinking line and a size 4 fly. Been counting down till I hit the 5ft. mark and start stripping the fly back in 6-8 in. pulls kind of slow.
