have Mon, Tue and Wed to fish, trying to decide Nehalem bay or Columbia river around St Helens. St Helens is 30 minutes away, Nehalem bay is 2 hours, any thought on what would be best for chinook or coho?

cdat, the section of the Columbia around St Helens, (Below Warrior Rock) is closed for all chinook until 8/1. Conversely, as of Sept 15, you can keep 2 chinook in Nehalem Bay.
If you are trying for coho in particular, there seems to be very few hatchery coho in Nehalem Bay lately.

Did check the regs yesterday, closed until 10/1.  Will probably go up to the area around frenchman's bar on Monday, then head down to Nehalem on Tue.  Part of the reason for going to Nehalem is to do some fly fishing for sea runs up at the river mouth, see if there are any left.

Thanks

Will hopefully see you there, plan on fishing from about 11 am - about 4 pm, see what happens.  Is there a boat launch a Frenchman's park or is it just beach launch?

If I get to go (still pending, but probably)..I'll be launching early, probably leaving by 11.Things to do...
No launch..long path to water, then some sand due to low water..yeah, good exercise.
Good launch further down the road past the houseboats...paddle out of slough...Caterpillar island. Will need Discovery Pass, not sold there.
 Good luck, John!

I'm probably not going to head to Frenchmans, too much trouble to launch the PA.  Will decide in the am where to go.
Good Luck

Yep...hard for the PA.  The Kadow launch would work though. ..nice boat launch.
