What was the issue with the 180' and having to move to 120'?

Accordingly to regs you cannot fish for bottom fish deeper than 120 feet. I knew it, but as I said FF went out and drift was pretty big, so I had know idea how deep I was fishing.

Ok, guys! Finally got awesome day. As promised went today to the same spot to test these Shimano jigs. Was kinds busy half of the day so came at the beach pretty late and launched from Meadow point after 3PM. Started mooching straight away from Green buoy. After maybe 40 minutes got a bite, hooked, something small, but anyway it is gone half-way from bottom. After maybe 15 minutes hooked again, reel up and nice salmon!!! My the very first ever - 10 inches, do not know exactly coho or king - released him right away. Next cast and bait again, hooked and who the hell is it??? I have no idea, never caught such before. Please see the picture - I guess some forage fish. Then no any baits for maybe 1 hour and them couple of baits after 6PM, hooked one but it is gone. So exited, and happy that lure really works, I haven't believe. Nice day, nice fishing, go again soon :)

Cool photo of the Sealion Eugene!

I guessing Pacific Hake, however its hard to see if there is a middle dorsal fin but it might just be the camera angle.

Micahgee - thank you! Yes, looks like some kind of hake. But I did't find middle dorsal fin - maybe it still doesn't have because it is not adult enough?
