I hate steelhead. I don't know why I torture myself every year. As a general rule of thumb, if you can see them, they can see you. If you can sneak up on them and get a good cast in front of them, a lot of times you can get one to bite before they all spook.

That's what I've learned in all of my trial and error. I don't think I'll ever get the steel dialed in   :'(

I saw a nice fish yesterday and was very sneaky but spooked it after several times casting way up steam and reeling spinners by it....I did some research last night and set up a super stealth clear bobber and steelhead jig for that depth. Today I went back in the early  AM and ninja crawled up to where it was. I sent my rig way upstream and let it float by the fish and it didn't budge. Then we tried every other bait we had. It just swam around slowly mocking mocking me. I'm guessing it has seen a few lures before..... [emoji19]

I think I should start with bigger streams which are supposed to be a little less challenging, right?! Hah.

I'll be up on the siuslaw tomorrow trying again.....
