It's hard to predict the coast.  It's kind of a day-to-day thing, especially this time of year.  You can check the surf forecasts on any of a dozen websites dedicated to advising surfers and get a reasonable idea of conditions.

When do you think you'd like to go?  Brookings alternates between rough seas and hard winds depending on the time of year.  Don't know La Push.

I'm kind of a butt about this, but we're not texting.  Slow down a little bit and spell it out, please.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

I can't speak for La Push or Brookings, but I can speak about the Brookings area as I live in Crescent City, 27 miles south of Brookings. Every winter I look back longingly at the previous season and ask myself, "What time was the best, most productive, and enjoyable time?" The answer is always the same. August and September. It's warmer, the ocean is flatter, less wind, and many species (California Halibut, salmon, big lings, and rock fish) are around. While our crab season is closed then, I believe Oregon's season is still open. Just my opinion. La Push may be better, but I've never been there.

I've wanted to do some fishing around Brookings for a long time but it seems it's a VERY windy place. Another alternative would be pacific city. The right time of year you have bottom fish, ocean salmon and crab. If the forecast is bad you can go inland and fish salmon at Tillamook, Nehalem, or the Columbia. Early August would probably give you the most options in that area.

Port Orford has decent bottom fishing in the shelter of the headlands when other areas may be unfavorable.  Let me know if you're considering the south coast and I'll be happy to start marking the conditions for you.

Sunset Bay lets you jump down to Coos Bay.  I haven't fished the Coos Bay area, but maybe Ling-Ling Herro will chime in because he's a Master in that area, and fishing seems to be good in the shelter of the bay.

Late May is the earliest I'd try the southern coast of Oregon.  It'll be spotty, but excellent days pop up.  By August, we have to start watching for strong offshore winds.  It's worst in Brookings, but they can affect most of the southern coast.  Getting out early and planning to get back by noon-ish will let you dodge the strongest winds during Summer.

I like Noah's suggestion for Pacific City.  I've never been there - planning a trip up this year - because the options in the event of poor conditions are terrific.

I can speak for La Push.  Fished out of there for lings, halibut, and rockfish many times.  Never from a kayak!  It has been nasty every time.  I don't get sea sick, except when I go out of La Push.....no joke.  I'm sure you can find some nice days there, but we havent.  That said, the fishing is phenominal.  You just won't catch me there in my yak.
