After doing some research I decided to try the new Hobie H rail on the new Hobie Outback limited edition. The price was pretty decent. I paid $24.99 for the 21 inch and I believe the 9 inch was $19.99. I have a couple of Hobie kayaks so I decided to purchase 4 21" H rails for one on each side. After I installed the first rail I found the rail to be slightly weak and would probably not hold a good size halibut during a strike. Possibly a salmon. So I decided to only use one on each kayak and installed A Scotty mount with a backing plate for my rod holders. I will most likely use the H rail for other accessories such as a fish finder mount, gopro mount, and rod holder mount. Here are some pictures. Please comment and share your thoughts. Also please share what you have mounted on your kayaks. Thank you.

I like the idea of the H-rail, but with two 1/4" bolts backed up by fender washers and a really long moment arm, I would never count on it for heavy-duty applications.  I have an H-rail on the way for my Revo, and it will hold rods for storage only.

Great point Low_Sky. I mounted a rod holder on it and it was very wobbly. Can't trust it. Great for other accessories. Like you said, great for rod storage during peddling. No wind resistance in the horizontal position. I was thinking of throwing the landing net on there as well. First run will be in two weeks for the Homer King salmon derby. Hope to see everyone there. Crossing fingers for goods weather.

Just looking at the pictures you've put up ----- that orange Outback looks like that would be a real hassle to get back on if/when you get thrown off in heavy seas. Too many obstacles and too much crap in the way for my taste.

If you think you really need all that crap----- good luck....
You might want to practice some re-entry and see how that works for you.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I've definitely seen some kayaks with overkill gear on them and I can see how reentry would be quite difficult. These are just accessory options for different situations. Every time I go for halibut it's normally just the rod holder and fishfinder that I mount on a scotty mount. Thanks for the comment Mark. I've done some reentry practice in a lake on my wilderness kayak and glad I practiced.
