Swan island sturgeon trip Sun. 3/20

Hello all,

Just got a new fishfinder, anchor and rod and reel I want to try out. I am planning on going out on Sunday morning. I plan on fishing the basin but may head a little bit south to a spot that produced a ton of sturgeon a few weeks ago. If anyone would like to join me. I have gone out a few times on the kayak in the ocean when in NorCal but this will be my first river trip in Oregon.  The river was like a lake a couple weeks ago. I would love anyone to join me. I plan on going from around 6-1pm. Hope you can join!  I fish a yellow big game prowler by ocean kayak and will be driving a white Nissan Rogue or a borrowed pick up. But the prowler should give me away.

Side note. I never needed a flag in California, will I need a flag for the kayak on the willamette? Or is that for ocean only?

Isn't Swan Island closed at the moment? I thought I heard some chatter about that...

If that is the case there is a boat launch at St. John's bridge and we can paddle to the fishing area just south of the basin. If it is open I would rather paddle down stream  . Where did you see it was closed. it was open 2 weeks ago

I think I saw something on one of the FB groups. Something about buoys being up saying no boat traffic or fishing because maybe they had a military vessel in there or something.

I will do some research. Hopefully that is not the case. I planned on fishing outside of the basin a little bit and anchoring. Hopefully it is open. I will post on here what I find out. Are you interested in joining at all?

Wish I could...way too many things going on....I cant even make the Sunset Bay trip on Friday 

That sunset bay trip does sound fun but it is a little far for me and I have work on Friday.
