I have an emotions sparky kayak for the grandson that has the mold style sitting spot and would like to rig it with a regular kayak seat with a backrest for him. Anyone done this? What seat?  Pics if you got them. Did an Internet search and couldn't find anything spacific. Anyone got an older unused seat they would part with?

I think you basically go with any aftermarket pad and back type seat of your liking, have to install padeyes yourself for the straps.

Step 1.  Buy a youth sized aftermarket kayak seat.

Step 2.  Set newly acquired seat into seat bucket.

Step 3.  Adjust rear straps to reach out to the gunwales behind, and mark where you will install pad eyes.

Step 4.  Take a deep breath, chug a beer as you are about to drill some holes in said plastic kayak.

4 beers later and 17 intentional distractions to avoid drilling the holes.

Step 5.  Get over it and drill the holes already.

Step 6.  Rivet in the pad eyes with a dab of Goop in on each hole.

Step 7.  Clip the rear straps in place, and adjust them so that rear of the seat pad is up against the rear of the
seat bucket without starting to climb up.

Step 8.  Now pull the front straps forward to the gunwales to the front of the seat.

Step 9.  Pull the straps taught to make the seat back lock into place with the straps roughly at a 45 degree
angle.  Mark where you will place the padeyes.

Step 10. Drink your last beer if you need to, but you should be over this drilling holes in a plastic kayak by now.

Step 11. Drill the holes, apply Goop and rivet them in place.

Step 12. Clip the front straps in place.  Adjust the front straps to allow the seat back to rest where it most
               comfortable to the user.

Step 13. Then fine tune the upper rear straps to take out the forward flop of the seat back.

Step 14. Have someone pat you on the back as we all know you can't reach it yourself.

You might try a beach sand chair. Their low . Maybe shorten the legs and nail it down.

Hobie seats won't fit any other brand (without modifcation to the kayak and or the seat) due to the seat pegs that eliminate the need for the rear straps.

Gotcha how wide are the adult seats?
